 Ms. DeKing’s Biology students extracted strawberry DNA during a lab. Students did this by breaking down cell membranes using a detergent and then adding ethanol to extract the DNA from the solution. Overall, students were surprised by the amount of DNA in the strawberries and compared the double-helix structure of the strawberry DNA to what we have been studying in lecture.
